Default Busy few days outback of the homestead

We had a micro burst weather event - kinda wreaked havoc around the town
and I got off lightly some had their homes totaled from fallen trees.

These seven 75 ft pines were no match for mother nature and there's always
something cool about big cranes lifting trees. All 7 now felled and bucked in
8 foot lenghts

The old Honda GL1000 inside that old brown shed got a bit bent up LOL
Must put a plate on it before Jake (the hideous one in Khaki's) gets here

As long as you and the family were safe Sprock,

Honda GL1000's could take the weight!

Cheers, SB

I was on the best seat in the house and had to do a hurry up
and rush them out the front of the house.

Lightening knocked the top 20 off the nearest one , blew the bark
clean off it and the top landed on the top of the lil ole brown shed
and rolled off. Little old garage/shed is now diamond shaped

But yeah Seb might have been different if they went 45 degrees
to the right. Could have been my last royal flush ever where
that little round window is.

Here's another from near the Church up the Street

If a tree falls on a caddie and the whole neighborhood hears it. does it make a sound?

Glad you guys are ok.

I imagine if this had happened in the winter when the deciduous tress are bare, the car might have been spared. In the summer, the foliage might've acted as a sail or some sort of ill designed kite, that helped bring it down.

Just another excuse not to work on the Goldwing - LoL
Glad you and family are OK.
We don't have timber frame houses here - It would cut down the cost of housing significantly but even with our need for low-cost housing they aren't allowed.
I'd love a timber framed house, much nicer than the 14" thick brick walls on my old Zulu hut......but not as strong in a storm I guess.
Yew will need to do some de -barking and maybe plant a few Redwoods and Bluegums - tough old trees those. A wood chipper would come in handy right now ? LoL
Again, glad you're all OK old friend.

Now there's an idea Pete - a mud hut for the Banana shaped GoldWing - nothing a
little heat from a cutting torch can fix LOL

Neighbor beside me has a Pacific Energy Wood Stove that can burn pine very efficiently
and I believe dead bodies too hee hee.

Woof that was an older Gold Camry that got sammiched , Tree was supposedly 130 - 150
years old and indeed all the foliage does catch like a sail especially in a micro burst which
is essentially an inverted tornado of sorts

Pffft; Camry , Caddie , is there any difference nowadays ? The Camry is probably cheaper to buy, run and maintain than a Caddie; and, when flattened by a very large tree, can't be distinguished anyway.

Holy falling trees bat... ehmm, Sprock, really glad you are all intact! I'm lucky the most violent weather phenomenons around here are thunderstorms, albeit any of you would probly take the "storm" out of them too Never experienced an earthquake, wind ripping trees from their roots does happen but not that common and sure as heck not that big!

Gold camry... got what's coming... Dunno should I feel bad for the owner for losing it or having it in the first place...

Sorry to hear about the 'Wing...

Sorry to hear about the shed and Wing, but really glad you, yours and the house was spared. Now go buy a lottery ticket while the luck is strong with you.

I'm curious to know about your Maine style microburst. Are they preceded a few days of heavy rains? That's how they happen around here. The high winds coupled with sodden earth and they topple, pulling up from the roots. That ones that snap usually aren't the healthy trees
