Default Another bike in the shed

Lately I've been having major issues with my hands trying to ride any decent distance on the CBR. A couple of years ago I bought a 650 V Strom. Well that bike does most things very well. But I gotta tell ya , its as boring as hell . So I've been hunting about the classifieds for something to replace it with. Many years ago, I bought a BMW R1100RT as a demo model. I sold it back to the dealer after about a year and a half to travel around the country in a bus I converted to a motor home. I always thought that Beemer was the best all round bike I had ever owned and promised myself I'd get another one day. Well one jumped out at me on ebay one night as I was scanning the classifieds ( and sipping an extremely large JD and coke ) . It ticked the right boxes , reasonably low kms ( for a bmw in oz ) , factory panniers and top box , reasonably tidy and of course, I could afford it .Being ebay, I made an offer which I thought was far too cheap. I woke the next morning to a message alert telling me that my offer has been accepted. Now wait for delivery. It just wasn't practical or cost effective to pick it up myself (3000km round trip ) . So by this weekend , I should have my R1100RT at my place . Next step is to check it over and prepare for the rwc & rego . I hope to have it all sorted and ready for the pilgrimage to MotoGP at Phillip Island .

Kudos. I bought a BMW automobile sight unseen but it wasn't on eBay. Hope you love the new bike.

So, how is the love affair going, all still sweet? Any faults/foibles/characteristics you would like to tell us about, or even things that you absolutely love and now can`t live without

All is going very well . Its everything I thought it would be . Big , comfortable and easy to handle .
No faults as yet , although work commitments have limited the amount of riding I'm doing .
I took the CBR out for a blast the other day and was absolutely amazed at the power .
If I could handle the ride position for longer periods I probably wouldn't have bought the beemer .
The power / performance difference is huge .
I quite simply can't ride the CBR without playing with the power , the laws and penalties in this state means I would lose my license very soon .
With the Beemer I'm happy to play with the low and mid range twin power without going into " go to jail " territory .

Glad you're enjoying the new ride Al.

I know what you mean about the CBR speed/power problem, on the motorway I hit 140 and it was just so easy, wanted to keep going, but sanity hit. At those speeds the bike is rock steady and it's just the fear of the law that slows you down
