This is a great idea ... I'm one of those worry warts ... I presume that the rod will have enough integrity to support the bike in this application?

yes the rod is plenty strong enough. i crashed my bike at the track and the rod bent a bit because i have a long slider on it to protect my pipe. the threaded rod bent but did not brake. if i had of tapped into an alum rod it may have pulled out ??

Thought about doing this, but then just bought a pitbull stand with the swing arm rests.

Hey I bought all the parts but I am having trouble tapping the rod. Dont really have the proper tools.

Does anyone have a tapped rod they will sell?

it's not supposed to be threaded, its smooth and you have to drill and tap a 6mm hole on the ends.
