ive heard about +1 +2 -1 -2 etc. on sprockets. i think its the numbers of teeth? im not totally sure, can someone tell me what that means (the +1/-1 etc.)? oh and what is up with those conversion sprockets? it says 525 conversion to 520 or something. what should i get on my f4i?

You're guess is correct. (front/back example -1/+2) Dropped a tooth in the front and picking up 2 in the back would give the bike added torque. I myself plan to probably drop one in the front and leave it from there.

As for the 525/520 chain kits. This is actually a different diameter chain. We, stock f4i'ers have a 525 chain. And alot of people change them out to a 520. Which is smaller and lighter, but not as strong. So it will make you faster, but it wont last as long.

Hope that helps.

thanks so much joe! i think ill do that -1/+2 which would make it 15 front and 47 rear? correct me if im wrong. would it add torque to low rpms or mid or highs? for the chain i think ill stick with the 525s then. are these good? http://www.kneedraggers.com/list/1262 i dont know which one to get because theres X, Z, XW. which one do you guys recommend?

It would be 15 Front/48 Rear (stock is 16/46). With that you'll get faster launches & easier wheelies.
Remember however, that changing the gearing will affect your speedometer, which can be recalibrated using a Speedohealer.
Those chains are all good brands, and x-rings (WXYZ) are much better than o-rings.

IMO a -1+2 on f4i is overkill. If I could go back I'd only do rear. The f4i has a great power band down low and I think the -1 just prematurely wears the tranny. My bike has full yosh, filter and pcIII. It's great for streets of willow (reason for my gear choice) but areas that I could run single gear on the streets I find myself shifting more than would be necessary. Again personal opinion but the stock front would do fine. Rears are easier to change anyway haha.

Thanks Canhead. On the metal parts I degrease with brake cleaner and finish it off with Original Bike Spirits Spray Cleaner & Polish. Gives the powder coating a nice sheen afterwards.
