Default wont idle....

I'm having trouble with the bike not idleing, engine runs fine while when I give it throttle, just when I let it go, it dies....everytime. I'm thinking because it sat for a while, that the evaporated gas has gummed the carbs up. Any ideas? Am I close?

for further posts with tech questions always put the year and model of your bike so we all know what to think about with it, yea sounds like your close with the carb problem check to make sure the idle screw if it has one is set properly and that the choke is working properly not stuck open or anything cause the bike will run under throttle then die when you let off granted the bike is warmed up, but i would check those things first and test and if that doesnt do it then pull the carb for a good old fashioned cleaning, sounds like thats it especially if it sat for awhile

everything stretch said.

I would just emphasize on his point of the idle screw. Make sure it didn't get turned somehow while it was in storage. If you turn the idle up and it still dies, it could be your pilot jets are plugged, which would mean a carb cleaning.

Also, his point about what bike you have is pretty important in helping you diagnosis the problem.

sorry guys, its a 95 cbr 600f3. While I have it opened up to clean the carbs, i guess i should go ahead and change the jets also? I bought the bike off a friend of mine and it has sat for a while. Only has 8200 miles on it. Also, I've seen a couple videos on you tube about cleaning the carbs, and it looks like a b*tch, is it as hard as it looks?

No, it's not hard, but take your time to do it right the first time. Don't change the jets, but do clean them. You should never make modifications to the bike whlile your having problems with it.
