Taking the guts out will only make it louder -- no HP gains. In fact, you'll lose HP if you remove the baffle and packing. Re-packing is easy. Just drill out the rivets, pull the old stuff, put in the new stuff (wrap it tight), rivet it back on and you're done. I recommend using a grease marker and marking the end cap in relation to the can before removal. And wear rubber gloves and a dust mask.

I took the baffling out of mine...I have a FMF pipe and it sounds great. I heard that you do lose power but its such a little amount its really not noticable. A friend of mine has her baffling removed on her yoshi and its sounds sweet as hell, she has an 03' gixxer 600.

i have a RS-3 SERIES and i am going to do it this weekend. i also have some dents that i want to pull out from the inside, but look at it this way....

if you dont like it you can always put the baffle back in.
