On a bike approaching 20 years old, lets hear your pre-ride/trip inspection and maintenance procedures.

Go !!

i would treat it just like any other older vehicle. if the bikes been maintained and has been reliable, I would just check the normal things. I don't think I'd tear into the internals.

Same inspection as short trips. Tires, chain, fluids, and wash it up for the ride....

Wheel bearings, chain, brake pads, ignition coils, oil, etc. I'd grab a spare set of fuses, an extra bulb if they're the older kind (you have a 900rr, right?).

And I'd pack a tire plug kit along side a smaller tool kit for tools you need 8,10,12,14,17 mm sockets, a small extension, adjustable wrench, pliers, flat head, Phillips, etc.

Think about what could go wrong, and if it's easy to plan for it, do so.

Mostly likely will be "on the road" for a 4 or 5 days so I'm a bit more concerned than that of a short trip.

That's what I'm afraid of.

It's pretty much (been) perfect so I'm torn between the 'basics' and trying to anticipate any potential for failure due simply from age. Storage is also limited on the ride so it's a tough balance between necessity and obsession. I'm not sure one could feel 100% confident either, so it's nice to hear suggestions to help in that.

To that...

Bearings/brakes/etc I will be checking, it's getting a new front tire Sat so half that is done.

All the lighting is LED so that should be good, plus it has a new RR/Stator/Shorai Batt as of this last summer.

I still have to stock complete tool kit on board, with a few additions so I think tool wise I feel good.

Plug kit is a good one, that I'll add.

...pre-ride/trip inspection and maintenance procedures.

Are you wanting to know what to bring, or how to prep the bike?
Where are you headed?
