How to remove old Tank Pad safely
Ok member, kinda want to remove and replace my current Tank Pad which was stick on by PO...he did a great job actually cause it's been over 5 years since I got the bike and the old tank pad still look solid. No peel or any signs of coming off.
So what is best way to remove pad without damage the paint. Also is there anything I should know when applying newer pad?

If you're talking the knee/crotch pads on the tank, not sure, never done it.
My best GUESS...try masking the surrounding area with tape first. It might help mitigate
any slips. I'd check some "Goof-off" somewhere inconspicuous, and if it looks good,
try to pry the edge up and use a squirt under it. Give it a little time, see if it will
start to peel, then a little more, etc...
If you can find slightly larger replacement pads, that might cover any 'boo-boos', as well
Good luck, Ern

Hey, that's how they remove vinyl flooring....exclude the WD-40. They use heavy duty dryer from home depot...learn that when I was in construction....remodeling homes.
Guess the dryer heats up the pad until it's soft to peel but not
hot enough to damage paint.

Great idea, i will place masking tape all around to protect tank, then apply heat with dryer....
I also have a 1/2 tank bra but those seem out dated? IDK? If I use the bra, feels 80's funky...when was the last time we see a car with a headlight bra???

If you do it the way everyone else is suggesting (with hot air), I doubt you'll need to mask it. (I did say I was just guessing).
I'm thinking they're putting forth a lot more sense than I was. ;-)
Thanks for everyone's input. It's always hip, adding another tool to the belt.
I'm smart enough to learn new things and try to be wise enough to listen. lol
