Default FI light stays on

Hi,

I have a 2001 CBR F4i. My bike was stored all winter (about 4 months) and I started to ride again 2 weeks ago. Last night I went for a ride and I noticed my FI (fuel injection) light stayed on. Anybody have any idea why? I looked at the service manual but there's nothing I can understand.

I didn't put fuel stabilizer when I stored it and I'm wondering if that could be the cause?

Thanks

I read somewhere that you should reduce the engine revs & get it to the dealer asap! Don't know if this helps.

When you say "reduce the endine revs" do you mean take it easy on the throttle, or reduce the idle speed?

Somebody from another forum suggested this stuff: http://www.seafoamsales.com/ I guess it cleans your carb (or fuel injector) and works like a charm. Cleans the dirty gas and all that junk.

There is a plug under the gas tank that if it comes loose it will give you a FI light. When I put inmy K&N I forgot to plug it back in and that is what showed on my cluster. I raised the tank back up and plugged it back in and the light went out. If you haven't put a filter in you may just want to raise the front of the gas tank up just to see if the plug may have come a little loose of is there is possibly a chaffed wire.
