Recently I purchased a 95 CBR900. It runs and drives well. I though it was a good deal until i discovered there is a crack on one of exhaust stud seats. Now I am looking into swapping the head. My question is do I have to drop the engine just for swapping head? Is there enough space to do the job without removing the engine from frame?

It may be possible, but for how easy it is to go a few extra steps and take an engine out of a bike - why wouldn't you drop it? The increased room for your work would most likely save the time it took to strip it down.

With the 95 CBR900 you could lift the head but to remove the head you need to drop the motor out of the frame.
