In memory of my wife

In memory of my wife
I lost my wife, Shelley, to renal failure on Wednesday January 22, 2014 at 2:35pm. While she wasn't a motorcycle rider, we were both avid ATV riders and had many great adventures together.
She was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in November 2011. She had surgery for it and was in remission up till the end. She had many setbacks, though, including a broken ankle and on July 4, 2013 she had a stroke. She never fully recovered from the stroke. She went into the hospital on January 11 and on January 19 (my birthday) she decided to stop treatment. She told me she was tired and worn out from fighting this. I stayed at her bedside 24 hours a day from the 19th until she passed away on the 22nd.
We are having her funeral this Saturday.
This has been a terrible thing to have to go through, but coming to forums like this where I can get lost in the many stories helps escape reality.

Matt - I'm so sorry for your loss. I can't imagine losing my wife. Just remember that she is finally able to rest and she is not in pain anymore. I know that while her struggle has finally come to an end, you're still in the thick of yours. Hang in there. We're here for you.

TIME
It’s often said that time will heal our hurt,
And lead us on to better memories
But tell it to the friend who is in pain,
And sure it is that he will disagree.
I can but try with words to soothe your wounds
And patch you up to face another day
But time will ease the burden and the sounds
Of anguish heard, from many miles away.
We have in life so often felt the ache
And miss the ones who leave us here, behind
To travel to a better place and make
A place for us to dream of, and to find.
So take some time, consider who is here
And give them all the love that’s in your soul,
For time will mark the passing, year by year
Of sadness and the loss you can’t control.
As days go by and dim the loss you feel
The pain will fade to gentle memory-
My words are all I have to help you heal
However well intentioned they may be.

I couldn't even start to understand how you're feeling right now, but know my thoughts are with you man. Like others have stated at least you can take solace in knowing she's finally free from the pain. No one is ever really gone as long as you have the memories of all the times you've had together. Just hold on to the memories.
