time for valve adjustments

time for valve adjustments
My 01 f4i is in the 15,000 miles now and whenever I blip the throttle I can hear a relatively loud rattle....is it my valves? On my old gsxr when I hit 15,000 the rattle wasn't as loud.... I opened the tank and took a look....nothing visibly loose... Any input would be great thanks

RE: time for valve adjustments
More than likely it's your CCTL (cam chain tensioner lifter) that's rattling. Very common on F4i's. Most everyone I've heard of that had their valves checked at 16k said they were still in spec and didn't need adjustment. Mines at 34k and the valves have never been adjusted, and they're still perfectly quiet. My CCT however just started rattling. Do a search on the CCT and you'll find lots of info

RE: time for valve adjustments
Not your valves then. Mine tick only at idle really. When I get on it.. I don't hear much except the exhaust. My cam chain rattles at about 5k and 10k. You'll hear it when you accerlate and decelerate around certain rpms. Some people's rattle at 4k or 6k. The only way to fix it is to try and tighten or just go get a new tensioner. All it is an annoying noise, doesn't harm the bike or anything.
