Default Please help with cleaning up the tail of my bike, someone screwed this up.

I recently purchased this CBR and I am trying to clean it back up, and fix all the "cobbled" together junk all the previous owners have scabbed together.

This tail has been cut and a fender eliminator kit has been installed. It looks to be installed incorrectly and i cant seem to find a photo of how it should go. Currently the tail light is tucked way up in there, and it very difficult for drivers behind me to see it. And we all know, we need to be seen on motorcycles.

I would love to find a new inner tail fender and return it to stock, but most of them on ebay have also been hacked up.

take a look, Im open to suggestions.

Here is a photo from the side, it really is a beautiful bike, definitely not my first. I like to buy projects and fix them up and resell them. Not this one. Its for me... I have been trying for quite some time now to get my hands on an F4i.
I am a sucker for the OEM look, so those mirrors, and other small bits will go. I have a pile of parts on order. Bike has 17K on it, and does have a bad CCT, to be addressed first.

First order of business will be to remove the tail plastic. A few screws and bolts and it slides off (with a little coaxing perhaps). From there you can properly diagnose how it's attached. But it looks like a spacer to drop it down will do the trick for rear visibility. Search around the 'net for pics of F4i and you'll likely find one stock somewhere (magazine articles are good for this).

lol so your removing the fairings and exhaust as well? Honestly that rear doesn't look too bad to me, a little adjustment maybe but otherwise clean.

Good thing you have a "disclaimer" in your signature

Made some progress with the bike last night, I just do not have time to work on this thing. I am also replacing the CCT, along with removing all the wire nuts (what was the previous owner thinking) from the tail secion and soldering them properly.

Interesting, I've never seen one sit too far down. Mine sits just a 1/4in too high but hasn't bothered me enough to fix it.

I was able to finely get time to wrap up this project... I have it installed a little better, so people behind can seem me. The photo looks worse than it really is. I still would really like to find an original tail fender and return it to stock.

And, OMG is this thing fast. I have rode many sportbikes/sport touring bikes, and this thing will run circles around them all. Its amazing what "only" 600cc will do.

Sure is a quick bike, even these days. I walked a 700whp 2016 Rouch Supercharged Mustang GT by car lengths to 130 with only a Dyno tune and full exhaust in power mods to my bike.

I have to say, I really like those Repsol fairings. Now I'm doubting my LCR.

I was getting down on an AMG before I got excited and bent my gear dog.
