Default Need help on RR Swingarm Swap! ASAP!

Alright guys, my birthday is coming up and my wife (who tries so hard to learn and understand the mechanics of my motorcycles and trucks) ordered some parts after messaging some guys about the swingarm swap. She mistakenly ordered a 03-04 600RR shock and dogbones, which I need the dogbones, but not sure about the shock? Can the 03-04 600RR shock work for the swap or do I HAVE to have the 1000rr shock?

She ordered the right swingarm, and caliper. But the link I had saved expired so she ordered what she thought was the same thing.

Will I need to order a 1000rr shock or can I make it work? I am trying to make my wife not feel so bad, since she tried so hard to get the right stuff haha

And just a few shots of the "Reaper" now, as she sits.

At those prices, you could sell them and make a few bucks if they don't work out.

As far as I can tell, there are 2 differences between the 600rr and 1000rr shock.

1) The 1000rr is sprung stiffer because it weighs more (probably closer to your f4i's weight).

2) The reservoir is pointed back instead of sideways, which may be why you need the 1000rr shock, the 600rr resi might not fit with your f4i frame/subframe. You should be able to tell by mocking it up

It looks like people swap between the two often.

Does the 1000rr rear shock fit the 600 ?? : Honda CBR 600RR Sportbike Forum : 600RR.Net

Yessir. I ordered a 1000rr shock and accidentally got an 08+ shock. So I made the 600 work.
