Default drained a full tank in 80 miles - story

So finally I am back home after a trip with my friends to sicily. We were 9 bikers - me, another f4i, Kawi 750, Hornet, Kawi ZZR1200, 600RR, Kawi Z1000.

After eating at Enna we headed to Cefalu on this tortous and twisty highway through the mountains. Some strange rage dominated our wrists and after filling our tanks we started this kind of "race" which we never agreed to do. My top speed was 176 mph on my speedo and 165 mph on my handheld GPS. It was 30 minutes of pure fun. Stuck in 5th and 6th gear, i never revved less than 12,000 and hit my rev limiter a million times. The F4i is one mean machine, I would have never imagined of feeling so comfortable taking a turn at 130-140 mph with such ease and confidence. The naked bikes had a biggg disadvantage with wind resistance. Our top speed matched that of the 600RR and the ZZR 1200. The only one who blew us away with top speed and acceleration was the GSXR 1000 with a speed of 192 mph.

Anyway I had just hit this curve and was counter steering to get the back straight up, cos when you you are crouched beneath your visor, there's no way you gonna straighten the beast if not by counter steering. All of a sudden it starts jittering at 13,000 rpm, and i say OMG whats wrong, did I chip a piston? The fuel reserve indicator didnt come on. So I parked in the emergency lane. i open the tank... no fuel whatsoever. For some strange reason the reserve indicator gave me a dump - i will check the fuse. To cut a long story short, The Kawi 750 had stopped without fuel 10 miles before me and the other F4i stopped 6 miles later. Afterwards we got to know that this highway is classical to stop without fuel cos there is no station for the stretch of 90 miles. The zzr1200 was kind enough to pick bags of fuel and come replenish our thirsty tanks.

Morale of the story - If you push the machine to its limits its gonna drain your tank, so take precautions.

I think you just scared the reserve sensor to death. Maybe give it some time off and it will be better.
