Any hardware store should carry stainless rivets.

In addition to the write up above, I kept searching and found this thread: shorter Jardine RT1

This answers my question above about my RT1, so I think I will attempt this over the weekend.

Looks like I'll be heading to Harbor Freight to get a rivet gun and some hi temp sealant.

For a comparison, here is a YouTube video of an F4 with a shortened RT1 exhaust. This is probably how mine will look as I might do about the same length (10 - 11 inches).

By the way, is there any drawback to cutting down an exhaust by that much?

Thanks.

I did my shorty today and it wasn't that hard. Well, the process wasn't that hard, but getting the rivets off and removing the end closest to the mid pipe was a pain.

Here is a picture (missing right side fairing because I am trying to find the source of an oil leak. I'll take a picture with the fairing on and will post that up too.

After riding the bike, the exhaust is a little louder and a little more throaty, and overall I am satisfied. The bike is now especially loud at higher RPM's.

Can having a shorty make the bike run different? Meaning maybe a little hotter, engine working harder, etc. I am just curious.

Here are some pictures with the bike back together:
