Default Blinking Red "FI" Light

2002 F4i with 26k miles. Rode home yesterday from work with no problems. Started this morning and had a blinking "FI" indicator light, seemed to be two long blinks and then repeat. (Not sure on long/short blink as I've never had this problem before.) Turn off and restart, no "FI" light but bike idles very low and backfires when letting off the throttle. Possible problems? thanks

Code 2 is for the MAP sensor and there is no code 20. Something wrong there would definitely cause those running issues. Check the vacuum line to it and the plug. Look at all the vacuum lines as any leak will be picked up as a MAP sensor reading incorrectly.

As usual with these things, check the FPR while your in there.

I'll look into it and report back. Thanks again.

The vacuum lines/connectors were all good and the fpr was working correctly. I did pull the electrical connections apart and make sure everything was clean and reassembled. (I didn't see anything that looked like it would be a problem.) Bike now runs fine with no problems.

Can the MAP sensor throw intermittent codes if it's going bad or is it typically an all or nothing deal?

Default 02 with 27k miles

I'm having this same issue. Only in the morning. If I shut key off and try again, no problems arise. If light is on, backfires like crazy. I often wonder if its the crappy gas that is around my area. I have yet to figure out which code it throws though.

It's easy enough to pull the plastics and air filter off to check things out, only a little time and no expense. On a side note, I may be getting slightly better gas mileage now, but I need a few more tanks through it to be sure.
