Thats good. Thanks for the info. I should have the other RR soon so I needed to know. Hopefully this fixes my bike so I can make long rides.

I just got mine hooked up. Seems to be charging now. Not sure until I get a better voltmeter. Showing 15.7 at the battery and 17.7 at 5k. So if it is 3 volts off then I should be ok. Getting a better meter tomorrow to double check. To cold to ride anyways.

Also found out I really really suck at soldering.

I woud check the generator. The RR gets fried if your generator is facked.Rearly it would just fry cause of overheating..doesnt really happen
So instead of putting in new RR and doing nothing i highly recomend checking the generator and all the connectors that you can find as bad contact can create extra resistance and fry RR as well.
So dont be just waisting money again and again on new RRs, find where the problem lies...
P.S.Love the forum.Dont have CBR yet , selling my GSF400 at the moment, as soon as that one goes will be looking into getting CBR600...

I replaced the generator before I had the RR problem. BTW I finally got a good voltmeter and everything is good now. Finally got to ride some as well. All is well.

Glad to hear you got it sorted. Just keep contacts clean and rust free and you are flying it. P.s. Any one wants to buy my bike?

The diode test function is on your meter...The meter will read in volts now instead of ohms(resistance).
Go here and go through the troubleshooting steps...http://www.offwidth.co.uk/bike/gener...lt_finding.pdf

Bringing this topic back up and have a question too:

After reading your great write up I have decided to get the suzuki 1000 regulator....now here is my question or statement....in your write up you mention 3 white wires on the cbr. I have 3 yellow wires a red one and a green one.. I guess my question is that it will still work the same correct? 3 yellow to the 3 black the red to the black/red and the green to the black/white?

Thanks for you help man...

Dennis
