F3 Fork internals - the final answer.

New guy alert!
Hey, all! Awesome forum, and I'm thrilled to be here! I figure I'll just jump right in, hope no one minds. I've got a '92 F2, and want to swap the forks. I'm leaning toward the 2nd gen F3 fork (as well as the wheel, fender, and brakes) with RaceTech guts; but I'm seeing a lot of comments about losing the speedo if I go with '97-'98 parts. I'm curious, why is that? Isn't the speedo on the 2nd gen F3s cable-driven off the front hub like it is on earlier bikes? I'd appreciate anybody's input. Thanks!

here's my question -
I have a 92 with the stock fork in it now, and a bought a set of 94 forks that I have all of the seals and racetech springs to rebuild.
I'm looking the 94 fork over and there's a little pitting/rust here and there on the uppers. My 92 uppers are clean. Can I swap the uppers on the forks so that I have the better uppers from my 92's and the internals of the 94's? I hear the lowers are identical, which seems odd when the seals are different part numbers.

The F2 upper fork tubes need modification, the F3 cartridge internals are larger in diameter than the F2 dampening rod internals.
There's a ring inside that needs to be removed and the tabs that hold the ring in place need to be ground down.
This information was provided by Ken Johnson.

I have a 93 or 94, and the fork tubes are pretty screwed up, have changed the oil and dust seals twice but starts leaking again.
In India its very difficult to find spare for an imported bike.
there is a friend who has converted his F3 forks to 954 forks and he sold me off his F3 forks along with the tripple T's and stem which is very very good condition. Now the plan is to drops the complete upper sets into the existing legs of my F2.
Below is the pic of the existing upper side of the forks.

anyone with 91/93 F2 that wants to update there forks and keep it all plug and play eather get race tech emulators for your 91/93 front end...or get a 94 F2 font end..also if you want your 94 front end to be just as good as the F3 front end get the race tech Gold Valve Cartridge witch will make your 94 front end just as good as the f3 or better...for my 92 F2 thats what i did because i wanted to keep it all F2 and could not be happier with the results...
