Default Shifting Question

So when shifting from first to second ... is it rough for anyone else? Does it make a difference say shifting at 4-5k rpms compared to 6-7?

it's going to be the hardest shift you have because you'e bypassing neutral. so it should be a pretty long shift, but it shouldn't be "rough".

929's and 954's are known for clunky shifting especially from 1st to 2nd. One of the best mod's for these bikes is to install a Factory Pro Evo shift kit. I just installed the shift kit a few months ago in my bike and now wish I had done it when I first got my 954 nearly 4 years ago. It makes shifting faster and smoother than the stock setup.

I too had a few problems with this and was also told about the factory pro kit, Expensive to say the least with the star. What i did was inspect the whole gear shift assembly i.e everything. took the shift drum out- fine. took the shift rods out-fine. I then inspected the shift arm and there was a slight bend in it. I decided to replace the shift arm and spring and well.....perfect shifting for £15. Well worth a look into.
