Default Chain Tensioner.

So my bike went in today for the 12k service.. has about 13k on the clock thus far.. i was noticing a buzzing sound, and i had one of the techs listen to it, and they stated that it might be a chain cam tensioner.. they dealer said that it's a 60 dollar part and an hour for install so 80 bucks for labor.. curious how difficult that would be to do on your own, or if it's best to be left up to the experts.

if you dont spend much time inside there. leave the pros do it. could cause more damage with negligence

I had mine done a few weeks ago and i decided to have the pros handle it.

What kind of buzzing sound? And when?
I think my tensioner is going south on me too. I hear a rattling noise at 5-7K RPMs when I really roll on the gas.
And from what I hear, changing the tensioner is not all that hard. But I guess I will find out in a few days.

well, you will hear a ticking noise from the engine. there is a slight ticking which is normal but when it gets louder is when it needs to be tightened. best thing is take to your dealer and ask for advice. should be free since its just a 2 sec thing to listen

Changing my tensioner was not all that hard, it's just in a tricky spot to get to. It took me about an hour to do but it did not solve my rattling noise. Is it possible for the cam chain to stretch farther than the tensioner can expand? Has anyone had to change their cam chain all together?

You never want to take it to the dealer, they always seem to say its the CCT when it's not, it's an easy way for them to charge you 80 dollars for an hour worth of work that you didn't need, take it to a private shop.
