It says its a 93 on the frame. The body work looks to be a 99?? Does the body stuff match right up? I payed $1500 for it. Lol

I'm sure others can prolly give better ways to identify but here are 3 easy ones.

in case PO riveted on an incorrect plate, you can match the vin on the plate to the vin stamped onto the frame.

the front fairing stay is different for different years. if the frame is a '93 you should now have 2 unused holes in the frame where it would have bolted in.

engine size would also be different. 893cc vs 918cc. check the stamp on the engine.

98 and 99 are the same.

Any chance the 93 is just a weak stamp or worn out number 98?

Jjudging by the clutch cover and other various parts it's a vintage cbr all the way. If you want to part with those fairings let me know. Sweet bike by the way!

i think you did just fine,
to find a twenty year old bike with all its pieces on there is a blessing and in your case the bike probably saw the ground up close at some point and got redressed with newer clothes.
you check the vin on the neck of the bike it should be stamped in there..
you did alright for 1500 right at the beginning of bike season..
