Update: i think im in over my head a little with the carbs so im have a ex-race tech take over the job so i know its done right so ill be taking my bike to him sometime this week. The new gauge cluster still isnt functioning right but i think i found the fix just have to wait for the resistors to come in. also getting ready to ship off my triple tree and nut to powder coating to a good friend here on the forum. I had to put a new set of mirrors on the bike because i broke one off, again, for the 3rd time just hitting it when i walked by the bike (this is how they have broke every time) pretty much the same mirror but doesnt have the upward stance like the other more of a level feel, ill see how well that works when i get the bike back from the carb work. and no i didnt take a pic i think we all know what broken mirror stalks look like lol. so thats it for now.

I've been looking at those gauges for another project I have in mind, except the one that doesn't come in the housing like you have. What are they like in terms of quality etc?

As for knocking off the mirrors - why don't you just leave them off until you take the bike out? I know how easy it is to knock them whilst in the garage!

Cheers

Dave: the gauge works fine for me showing temp/volts i didnt really care about the time i have that on my cluster but thats accurate as well. It did come in a housing but it was open on the back side i used silicone to seal it all up to protect it from water and did the same with the littel board that has the buttons to change mode/time also. I got this gauge from ebay for $13.00USD i think they had Blue/green/white/Red display colors. it came with everything prewired (board with buttons, temp probe) has 3 wires to wire up 2 12v and 1 earth wire i wired both 12v wires to ignition power as the gauge has its own battery to keep the clock in time when no power is on. The one 12v wire that shows voltage i wired up to the Voltage regulator (be easier to see of thats bad if i have a voltage problem) the other was just an ignition power input from the fuse box that powered the temp probe. The temp probe is a little bigger than what it looks like in the picture i can measure for you if you need it. the board that has the button from center to center on the buttons is 13mm buttons are 5mm size (on this gauge anyway) The probe wire length is plenty long enough to put pretty much anywere on the engine you want, mine is stuffed into the Radiator fins far as i can tell its off from actuall temp but about 5 degrees F . This gauge measures in F and cant be changed to C but they are plenty other on ebay that can read in C. so far i really like it and it seems very well biult and accurate. Hope that helps

as far as leaving the mirrors off they have LED signal/running lights in them so once wired in kinda hard to just take out, i just pushed them all the way against the bike now so they are not so easy to hit lol. The bike is getting ready to goto the tech for carb work after that i only have a few minor things to tidy up then its hitting the road
