Buying a CBR600RR, question w/ Pink Slip
Hey guys,
I tried doing a search on the forums, but didn't really find an answer to what I was looking for.
I'm going to be picking up the bike tomorrow. The guy I'm talking to says the bike is his buddy's, but he is selling it for him. He says he has a signed pink slip already. Is there anything else I need to bring or know to cover my ***?

i bought my 07 from a guy selling it for his buddy who is in the military about 2 years ago...i got a signed pink slip and do not remember if he signed it or his buddy...took it to AAA for change of title with no problems...
like others have said, if the vin matches and the title is clean you are ok...

Personally, I'd pass. The only way I see an air-tight case is if the owner and seller signed something stating the seller has the right to sell the vehicle on his behalf. And had that notorized.
What's to say the owner doesn't claim the bike was stolen. If it really isn't his signature on the title (and without you seeing him sign, you can't know), then he retains legal ownership. And you just received stolen property. Cops take the bike back and tell you to chase down the guy who sold it to you for your cash back.
