Default Brake Light Always On - Already tried adjusting the switch

Hey everyone. I'm new to this forum and I just bought a 2004 cbr600rr yesterday. My first supersport. I've been riding dirt since I was 3 and had an Sv650s before this (which I'm trying to sell).

Anyways... So when looking at the bike I found that the brake light did not work when the brakes were pressed. I thought it wasn't working at all. However, it seems as though the brake light is always on. I have disconnected both brake switches to try and find which one is the culprit and it seems as though both are allowing the brake light to always be on. With the front brake, the switch isn't being pressed by the lever (easy fix - except I also dropped the screw in the middle of the bike). However, with the rear one if it is even plugged in the brake light is on. I have tried adjusting the little black plastic switch sensor thing and no matter how loose (or tight) it goes, the brake light is always on.

Help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance!

Does the rear switch slide easily? Try giving the shaft a little wd shot.

Yes it is sliding. It has a fender eliminator kit. I'm not sure which one. I'm pretty sure the tail light is stock though. I took all the fairings off to check the wires and whatnot (and to clean the bike) and everything looks fine as far as that goes.

Measure continuity through the switch in the open and closed position. If it never breaks the circuit, you have a bad switch.

Somehow I fixed it. I just disconnected the rear switch and was just using the front. I then tried connecting the rear brake switch again and now it works just fine.
