Well this like a "which" tire is best thread, will bring a million different responses. As long as its a synthetic oil without moly you will be fine. Personally i use Honda HP4 Gold and Honda OEM filter, a bit $$ vs reg synthetic, but for once a year i dont worry about saving a few bucks etc. Honda has just come out w a new Full Synthetic (Red bottle) which ill prob use next time. Just my 2 cents

Check out this website: http://www.calsci.com/motorcycleinfo/Consumables.html

I switched from Repsol Synthetic (expensive) to Shell Rotella-T Synthetic 5w-40 (inexpensive). I actually noticed that the bike shifted easier with the Shell. I recommend this oil to everyone.

its a pity you guys arent here in Australia. The best oil I have ever come across is not available up your way. Highest film strength I have seen, and excellent results in oil analasys- absolutly minimal wear materials present- typically less than 1ppm/1000k's.

I snooped around the net when i first got my bike and came to the conclusion that Amsoil was the best, but last time I needed to change my oil i didn't have the money or the patience to order it (no one carries it local that i know of) so i put Rotella T 5w-40 synthetic in, and geuss what... my bike still runs fine. If you use rotella only use the synthetic, i think the regular has friction modifiers which are bad for wet clutches.

my vote

1.) Amsoil
2.) Rotella T synthetic

and I use pure ONE filters, for my bike the are pretty cheap from advanced auto parts and i have read good things about them.

Why is moly bad to have in oil. Honda sells a pro oil with moly in it. What does it do? And does honda manufacture the pro oil themselves ?
