Walk me through carb removal please
Hey all.
Over the Thanksgiving break, I'm visiting my nephew who has a 2000 or a 2001 F4 (can't remember which....[sm=smiley24.gif])
I've gotten pretty good at taking the carbs off my 2000 gixxer track bike... by necessity. Pretty straight forward and simple.
Are the carbs on the CBR fairly easy to remove as well? Any tips for what I need to watch for?
I did a cursory search for about a half hour, but really didn't get what I needed.
Thanks in advance.

jonld, thanks for the input. I've got the screwdriver (had to buy it special for the gixxer carbs).
Thanks guys for the feedback. Any other suggestions/tips are welcome.

And btw, I learned that it's a 2000. F4, not F4i (obviously, since it has carburetors).

Straightforward - remove tank, remove aircleaner, remove throttle and choke mechanism, and then remove carbs. To get to the two outer screws on the clamps at the bottom of the outer cabs there is a slit in the frame that you put a long screwdriver through. Make sure you align them properly when you put them back on.
Unless you break the carbs apart you do not need a sync tool, just clean them all attached. That's what I did and it solved ALL the problems.

Thanks again for the replies.
Well, this isn't turning out to be as intuitive as I thought it would be.
I've consulted the downloaded manual, and loosened the four screws and all the pertinent hoses have been taken off.
The bank of carbs just ain't budging though. I'm either going to pull the bike off the stand or rupture a disk in my vertebrae.
Are you guys sure there isn't anything else that needs to be loosened up first? I can get them to wiggle a little bit back and forth, but there's no sign at all that they're ready to pop off of there.
Signed.
Desperate and Slightly Pissed Off.
