Default Help splitting the crankcase! 1999 600 f4

I bought a 99' cbr600 f4 and second gear would grind like hell so I assumed it was in issue with the transmission, so now I've dropped the motor, stripped almost everything off of it and now I've been trying to split the cases and they won't budge. I don't want to damage them either. So now my question is, does anyone have any tips on splitting the cases? The flywheel is still on there so do I need to take that off in order for my cases to split? Thanks - Noah

Default Take more off?

I have the clutch on and the flywheel still on and i didn't know of i needed to take them off in order to split the cases. I'm new to the forum and pretty new to riding (had a 250 before this bike) and I was just looking to get some extra help so I can get out on the road.

Answered your other thread.

Yes, remove clutch basket entirely.

No, leave flywheel on crank

Thanks for the info! I got the cases split and now I'm looking at the gears and they don't looks too bad but I have no idea what I'm looking for when it comes to a bad shift fork so I'll post some pictures.

I have an issue with my F4 too, it jumps out of gear on the straights and goes into a false neutral. it's annoying as hell and unsafe. You wouldn't happen to have that problem would you?
