2000 CBR 600 F4 Wont Start
#12
New update... The bike is down again. It started a few rides ago. I let it sit over the weekend, and it was extremely hard to start. I eventually drained the battery and had to use a jump box to get it to start. After it started it ran fine, but I noticed a miss when it was idling. So, I started doing the routine maintenance work; plugs, filters, etc. The plugs I removed were scorched. other than that, everything else looked fine. Now I have the same problem. I was able to get it to start on full choke only, but it had no power and would not keep an idle. It could barely reach 10K RPM. It also sounded like it wasn't running on all cylinders.
Any Ideas?

I have already tossed the old plugs, and I have no idea how long they were in there from the previous owner, but the iridium coating was burnt off and the porcelain was discolored from the heat. Talking it over with others, it was recommended to replace the battery. Being that I have to jump the bike every now and then. I am going to pick one up tonight. If nothing else, it is a fresh battery for this year.

OK, new battery and plugs, still not starting. Every now and then I can hear it chug while cranking but it will not fire and run. I am thinking ignition pulse generator or ignition control module. Has anyone heard of this issue relating to one of those or heard of a bad run on one of those parts?

I forgot to update. I have been riding all summer and it has been very dependable once i figured out the problem. When i found the bad out of box fuel pump to be causing an issue, I put the original fuel pump back on. It lasted for however long it was that I was able to ride before it fudged up. I then ordered a new Honda fuel pump, not one of those cheap ebay pumps, and installed it with a new filter and fuel lines. It has been a wonderful ride since then.
That being said, it is now cold here again and I am looking at some upgrades to do over the winter. Any suggestions on a chain replacement and sprockets. The rear sprocket is showing some wear on it and needs to be replaced, so I figured I'd go ahead and upgrade the rest.
