Default Tire Hugger?

I thought I would get an early start on today's stupid question... while I still count as a FNG.

Tire huggers... I have seen several different styles over the years, but lately I have seen some for sale that look like combination hugger and chain guard.

Did the F3, in OEM configuration, come with a Hugger or was the rear wheel area naked?

If people take them off why zat? Dosen't it keep things cleaner etc, or is it a track/boy racer* thing?

* "Boy Racer" is not intended to be insulting... your actual mileage may vary.

I believe it's a one piece hugger/chain guard for the f3 but i'm not sure. They look terrible on any bike, but they do keep em cleaner.

Its actually 2 piece. I took mine off because the previous owner painted it without sanding it and all the paint flaked off. Never got around to repainting it.

it depends dementedf3. without it, it shows the chain - it looks more raw dog! the "workings" of the bike. i love seeing the chain.

dementedf3:

the photo's are a bit biased due to the fact that the swingarm is black with the tire hugger and steel grey without it...

Mine came with the hugger, it matches the colour of the frame, I like it. Keeps that much crap from being thrown up under the bike (although not all) & all over the nice red rear shock. Have seen some after market ones with pseudo carbon fiber look (Black).
Personally I'm so used to it, when I see an F3 with out it, they don't look right.
