someone jacked my key hole w/a screwdriver
Well i come outside this morning and go to stick my key in the ignition and it will turn just far enough to unlock the handlebars but no further. Look down at the hole and the ignition and someone was definitely trying to start my bike with something like a flat head or a knife or something. The box looking plastic around the ignition is busted up pretty bad. There were pieces of that laying on the ground. So my question is where do i start? replace the whole thing?
Oh yeah i forgot to mention this is my daily driver so they really screwed me over big time

id replace the the whole unit. you can pick them up cheap used. the only problem is you have 2 key then, but if you ordered a set from the dealer (if they still have them) then you can order the gas tank lock and helmet lock as a kit. but that is a very expensive kit. id live with 2 keys.

From what I'm seeing in the wiring diagrams, if you short from the red>red/black,
on the ignition switch, the bike will be able to start.
Try Radioshack for a 15amp rating rocker or push-on/push-off switch.
This will leave you vulnerable to theft, if the previous guy revisits the scene of the
crime. So use some 12guage wiring and HIDE the switch. I would get a rotor-lock or
chain, if you do decide to go this route. It might be a good idea to ALSO install (and
hide) a 30amp switch between the positive lead on the battery and the battery itself.
Or put up with the inconvience of pulling the seat and doing it manually,
for those times you are parked for any length of time. Try to do that as un-obtrusively
as possible, so you don't telegraph what you're doing, though.
It's a shame that it's your daily commuter, or I would recommend haunting ebay for
an ignition, gas-cap, helmet-lock set. I found mine for less than $100.

Here is what I use a round key lock. So that thieves have a lot harder time stealing my $h!t. No more @-holes trying to start your bike with a screwdriver.
