Default Oil light!!!!

Hi, I just changed my oil and filter on my 96 600. I put about 3.7 qts. of Mobil full synthetic in. when I started the bike up the oil light stayed on. I only ran it for about 10 second before I turned it off. Does it usually take longer than that after an oil change?

I don't know. Nothing is leaking when the bike is turned on and the oil level is right, but the light does not go off. I never had a problem with the light either.

The light should NEVER go on. It's a pressure sensor, so your oil pressure is low. Check the obvious stuff first. Is everything tightend down securely? Does the oil reach an appropriate spot on the dipstick measure?

DON'T use the bike until you figure this out, as you're risking severe engine damage.

Honda reccomends using Honda Synthetic 4-stroke oil with the CBR600 F3, so i'd have to trust their judgement on that.

The only time it may come on after an oil change is if you don't prefill your filter with oil and the motor dry starts. Even then, it should flash for about a second and thats it.

ok, I didn't pre fill the new filter but I started it up again for another 10 seconds and it still didnt go off. Could It be the oil that is making this problem...... this is the first time I am putting synthetic in the bike since I got it. its got about 20,000 on it

how about you do a simple oil pressure test..... see what kind of oil pressure your motor is seeing..... maybe your oil pump seal or gear backlash is way out of spec.....

Take a look at your oil pressure switch. Is the wire tight and not grounded to something?
