Default Motor Registry to Check if Stolen?

Hello,

Im thinking of getting a bike that has another engine from another year. Its a 1993 CBR 600 and has a 1997 CBR 600 engine. I was wondering if there is any registry (by Honda or anyone else) that can tell you wether or not an engine is stolen, etc. I have a feeling that it could be stolen cos hes selling it really cheap, but how can I know for sure you know, maybe he did buy it at a yard!

Please let me kno if there's anyplace where I can enter the serial of an engine or frame and know if that was ever reported stolen etc. Thanks!

And if you buy it and it is stolen.... What is going to happen? nothing probably. If you dont buy it someone else will.

Thanks for the tips...

I just dont want to get pulled over and have some cop (for who knows what reason, u know cops) start to question every detail of the bike and then end up running an ID on the motor and find out its stolen, etc ...

Can cops run something like a VIN check on an engine, or is that not possible??? Or do they just run the frame?

Thanks!

most cops are too stupid to realize the engine has a seperate number for the motor they dont know anything about bikes to start with just that they hate them. The only reason he has to check the engine vin is if the plates come up stolen and if one dose want to check the engine vin tell him to get a search warrant first

Your frame VIN is all that really matters.
