Cam Chain Tensioner

Cam Chain Tensioner
I have a 96 f3 that makes a rattleing noise when the motor is cold. From everything Ive read, it sounds like the likely problem is the cam chain tensioner. Im a shade tree mechanic and so dont want to tackle anything too difficult. Is changing the tensioner somthing thats easy to do or should I leave it to a professional mechanic? In that case, is this an expensive fix or somthing a mechanic can do in an hour or two?

RE: Cam Chain Tensioner
It is probably the easist thing to do on your bike besides checking your air pressure or filling it with fuel. There are millions of message boards explaining step by step how to replace it. Even without them I am sure you can figure it out. I would buy a manual cam chain tensioner. I bought a honda one first and it did not fix it.

RE: Cam Chain Tensioner
I concur with transamlt1man. The hardest part about changing the tensioner on the F3 is taking out all the screws in order to remove the sid fairing!
This is where I got mine from.
