Yeah , i wanted to be able to turn it on and off as i wanted and i wanted the voltage to be as direct to the battery as possible, so i ran the minimal amount of stuff to hook this up.

I've got a volt gauge hooked up on mine. I wired it into a switch power, so it turns on and off with the bike. Unfortunately, it also reads about .5v low because of this.

I really should replace it with a relay. Then I'd have the best of both, switched and accurate.

I thought about adding a relay also, but wasnt sure if i needed one so i tried it without and it works fine on mine. I have to manually switch it on, but thats no biggie for me.

Phil314, do you have any pics of yours also?

You don't need a relay the way you did. It works just fine. You just have to remember to turn it off. Probably not a big deal since the gauge is so low power, it would probably take weeks to drain the battery.

You only need a relay if your going to hook it up on an ignition switched 12v wire. Then you use a relay and use the switch 12v to trigger the relay. The gauge is still hooked directly to the battery.

I was bored so I doodle a diagram.

Here's my gauge. I used VHB tape and stuck it to the edge of the top triple by the right clipon. And yes it reads a bit low when hooked up the way I did it (no relay).

Your gauge almost looks the same as mine. Got mine from ebay.

I saved your diagram for future wiring use.

Pretty cheap, I presume? Who was the seller?

My next race bike will not have a total-loss charging, like my last one, but it does have a turned-down rotor, so it does not charge as high as OEM, and I will need to charge it occasionally in between sessions at the track... this would make knowing when I must do so, really easy.

This is the one I used. It's small and completely sealed. Only downside is it's a little hard to see in bright sunlight. Other than that it totally rocks.

Replaced the levers today with some Shorty ones in black. These are just the regular ebay ones, but the quality was surprisingly great on these.
Racing Short Brake Clutch Levers Honda 91 07 CBR 600 F2 F3 F4 F4i 93 99 CBR900RR | eBay
Got them for $27.80 shipped
Also replaced the clutch lever mounting bracket as mine was cracked.

These took a few minutes of riding to get used to but they feel much better and to me look a lot better also.
