Splitting carbs on an 89 CBR600

Usually the air box mounting plate is taken off before you remove the carbs because it makes it easier to get the carb rack off the bike...that's why I left that out in my original explanation.
I'm not sure what you are calling the "throttle linkage" being a push fit. The throttles for each carb are linked together (if that's what you mean) with a spring between 1 & 2 and 3 & 4 and a small tension spring on each one that people lose when they take them apart. They are not really a push fit. The only thing that requires pressure when assembling are the fuel tubes because of the press of the O-rings. The 2 screws on each carb at the choke (enricher) bar are the only thing that actually holds them together.

Yeah exactly what you said, push fit i meant as in, no screws or bolts to contend with, just push them together and the little tab from one carb sits in the stop on the next one
First time getting this far into a set of bike carbs, and now ive done it they don't scare me anymore lol. So far ive got them back on the bike, but im leaving for new year holidays tomorrow so wont be riding till next year! Cant wait to get to know the bike, only done 12km since i bought it.

Good to hear the progress. Not sure how you can wait to try it tho.

I just went to try and make sure the floats are ok as i dont want repeat overnight hydro-lock, and blowing into the fuel intake with the carbs upside down, there was a slight amount of air getting into the number 4 carb. so i took the bowl off yet again and adjusted the float a mm or so to close early. Now when i blow as hard as i can into the fuel inlet i cannot get any air past the seals so i think im safe now with regards to overnight hydrolocking.
Just need to wait for my new petcock to arrive and then put it all back together and riiiiiiiiiide!! Its so hard just looking at it and not riding it lol, but family and xmas came first this time of year
