Finding Decals - Make Your Own
#12
I bought a small used hobby cutter first for $40 on EBay. I did some research and figured out that most of the hobby cutters won't cut your own files. The Wishblade cutter takes DFX files. It worked okay, sort of slow but it's the size of a computer printer and thus the size of the cut is small.
With the results I had with the little plotter I started looking for a bigger plotter. I found an older Summa professional cutter on Craigslist. The guy wanted $500 but I offered him $250 and he took it. It had a plunge problem on the start of cut that I fixed with an o-ring. It cuts 30" wide by infinite. It has a head that rotates which the small cutter doesn't have. This is much more accurate and very fast.
Getting the artwork cutter ready takes some time. Understanding all the software is also a bit of work. Once everything is sent to the cutter it's a breeze.
