Default The Bike Shop

Hi Everyone,

Things have been quiet in my build thread for awhile.

The reason is that I have been working on putting together my shop so I have a decent place to work.

It's finally starting to come together so I thought I would post some pictures. I still have the paint booth and machine shop to complete, but the main shop is pretty much together. I have a lot of space to work and it's also set up to be a bit of a man cave.

Here is the main shop area. This will be a build area so there will be a bike in front of the tool boxes.

This is looking into the other build area after the floor was installed.

This is the same area after benches are in and a familiar bike in the second build area.

I am installing a double entry door this week. Hope to be in there working before winter.

It's been a long road but will be worth it.

That is a sweet setup! I'm hugely jealous and green with envy right now.

Thanks Guys.

This has been a dream of mine for a long time.

I do have kids but they are all grown and I'm retired.

I love to work on the bikes so it was a natural thing to do in retirement. Keep my mind fresh and have fun at the same time. Won't be a business although I will sell some bikes to supplement costs and allow me to buy other bikes.

It will be amazing once I get the spray booth and machine shop done. I will be able to do pretty much anything I need to do myself.

I have a 6500 CFM spark less paint booth fan. There will be a full wall filter system with interlocks and fire protection. That is something I will use a lot because I love to paint.

The machine shop will be last, with a mill, lathe, drill press and welding area.

It's fully insulated, heated and air conditioned. It was a modular double pre-fab home originally. I built a ramp to get the bikes in because being a house it is elevated off the ground. Also putting in a double door in at the top of the ramp so I can get ATV's and Trikes inside.

That's awesome. If I ever had a setup like that, I don't think I'd ever go back to the house.

Ha! Well, I divorced the one that wouldn't let me have a motorcycle. The new shop is on my new almost wife's property. I wanted to build a new building...it was her idea to use the house.

She's told me she never thought it would turn out like this. She loves it and is very supportive...she also rides with me...on her bike

I'm wiser in my choices now

Very similar thing with me my friend. My 1st wife hated everything to do with bikes, even though she knew I was all about 2 wheels when she met me. Mrs. #2 actually bought me f3 I have now. We are currently looking for a new home and I am wanting either my own building, or the space to build one.

Thought I'd update this thread and show some of what's happening with the shop. I completed the back storage area and some of the bikes will be coming in there soon.

I'm trying to finish the paint booth first because I need the space for materials and to cut sheet metal. I'm fabricating the paint booth with steel studs and sheet metal. I have a 6500 CFM tube axial fan I bought on Craigslist. The booth is 4 foot by 6 foot with 7 foot ceiling. This is big enough to do frames and any other parts I need to paint.

I've also brought more bike in. The Norton is a project. Way in the back you can see my Honda 919 Hornet.

I will be bringing in the rest of the bikes in a few days. It feels really good to be this far and soon be able to start work on the bikes.
