Default Biggest tire for 87 cane 600

I justed joined the forum and it seems like a great place. I have an 87 cane 600 fighter. I need a new tire this summer. I have a new michelan pilot in the front so i was looking to do the same in the rear. Correct me if im wrong but i think the stock is a 130/80-17. I would like to go bigger because i hate the look of the skinny tire. Can i go bigger than a 140/80-17. Also i dont realy understand the difference in the second number on tires.

The second number is the ratio of the sidewall height and the width. A 140-80-17 is taller than a 130-80-17.
I am thinking about a 140-70-17 for mine, or a 150-70-17.
Dennis Kirk shows the actual dimensions of the tires on their site.

I have a 180 55 17 on mine with no tire hugger with a 110 70 17 on front.

180?? can you let me know the make and model of tire? i thought biggest was a 160 on our rim.

If you look right above your post at the top post that says" tyre sizes", the subject has been discussed ad nauseam. See my signature for my tire sizes. They work well for me.

What do you think the biggest size i can go is with a Michelan pilot with out mods? I dont want it to be rubbing and my lady rides on the back to bike night and laconia.

150 safe. i run that michelin now and have been doing so for the last couple years.

I have a custom inner fender and i'm running a 160/60 17 in the rear and a 110/70 17 up front with no problems the bike handles throuth a corner better that the stock sizes in my opinion
