RE: 2007 CBR1000RR vs. 2008 R1
I had to make the same choice last year when I got my 1000rr. I loved the look of the R1, but after reading reviews and a $1500 difference otd price, I went with the honda. I am really happy with the honda, but I'm sure I would have been happy with the R1 as well. What ever bike you go with, let us know and put up some pics! Good luck.

A friend of mine with and R1 and I switched bikes on a ride once. The main thing I did not like about the R1 was the feeling. I felt like I was sitting on the bike instead of setting in the bike so to speak if that makes any sence to you. For that reason you will not catch me on one.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholderfor sure.
That being said, just picked up a candy red and silver 2008 on Saturday, and I have to say, it is stunning in person (especially in bright sunlight). I've had riders walk up just about everywhere I stop and we just sort of sit there and stare before talking about the bike. First RR I've had since my '92 900, and its pretty amazing so far. If you haven't seen the bike in person out in the wild, make sure you do before making your decision. I've felt the R1 was easily the prettiest open bike for the last several years. I really do think this new RR is in the same leaque with the right scheme.
Took the bike out to the local twisties yesterday. you will NOT be disappointed with this bike. it is just uncannily smooth and confidence inspiring.
good luck with whichever bike you get. they're both sweet.

Do your self a favor and buy the Honda and I will tell you why. I have rode Honda for 20 years plus and recently I tried to switch. I bought an R1 last year and an 08 ZX10 3 weeks ago. Now let me tell you where both bikes are, at the dealership in the used bike section. After a season of riding the R1 i discoverd unless your above 8,000 rpms this thing sucked, if your not ridding on the track all the time it sucks, needless to say I sold it the end of the season last year. Then again I tried a Kawasaki ZX10R; the all new model witch was suppose to be great, again crap, the Kawasaki has even less low end power and fit and finish is horrible. I lost$1800 on the new Kaw after only three weeks butOnce you ride a Honda you wont ever change because the quality and performance is unmatched. Yeah they may only top out at 178 when the rest of the bikes go over 180, who cares and when do you drive that fast anyway. I will gaurentee this however, you will be faster on the track and the road on Honda because they ride better and have much better low and mid power which 95% of riders use. Buy Honda and live happy.

Get what you want. They are all kick *** with about as small differences in taste as how much sugar you put in your coffee. But have to agree a bit with what he said. The honda is the best all around on the street and can hold its own on the track. And I gotta tell ya when I snapp the throttle at 6k rpm or above the front end pops up. It has plenty of power. I too was looking at a R1 last year but decided to go with a cbr because of its comfort. It just fit me better. Love it.
