Default Wikipedia needs your help

Yeah, they're looking for your money, but that's not why I posted this. They have an article on the 1000F which they have dubbed sub-par and in need of improvement. Specifically, they're looking for citations for some of the claims made in the article. Also, I noticed that some of the "facts" mentioned are not completely accurate, and that the article could be cleaned up grammar and composition wise. I figured that we're the experts on these bikes, we have many of the sources to supply citations (see our "magazine reviews" section), and that maybe we could put our heads together and come up with something to improve the Wiki article. It can be found at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honda_CBR1000F

The 1000F did last till 99 in Europe and elsewhere even though it's run in the US lasted only till 96. Since the Blackbird came out in 97, I suppose you could say it replaced the 1000F in the US at least. The most glaring error in the article is the authors claim that the third gen bike was released in 92. The 92, though not sold in the US, was still a second gen bike. The first third generation bike was the 93.

The Blackbird actually came out in 1996. The Hayabusa was first produced in 1999 as Suzuki's answer to overthrow the bird. It was named the Hayabusa ( Japanese for "Peregrine Falcon " ) because it could swoop on the Blackbird and eat it for breakfast....which I suppose now it can. The bird ran until 2007 here and the USA last saw a new one in 2003. I could never work out why Honda did that. The Hayabusa of course now reigns supreme and Honda put out that disgraceful VFR 1200 which I have on good authority hasnt even sold 100 units here in Oz.......

Are you sure '99? Pretty sure my mate had a '98 Busa. The black bottom, burgundy top. Maybe it was manufactured in '98? And wasn't the name because the peregrine falcon (Hayabusa) was able to reach 200mph in a dive and the Hayabusa claimed that as a top speed? I'm no expert, just crap I remember from when they first came to Australia.

The first model year for the Busa, in the US at least, was 99. Same for the Blackbird, it might have come out in 96 but the first model year was 97. As for 200 MPH, I don't think so, since there has been an International "gentlemen's agreement" among the major manufacturers limiting stock top speeds to 184 MPH (300 KPH).

Just for info :
A Hayabusa is a type of Falcon found in Japan. Very fast, reaching speeds of over 320 km/h (200 mph) IN A DIVE
The favourite food of a Hayabusa is......................

a Japanese Blackbird.

This is where the name came from as I'm told - typical Japanese play on words.............. hehehe.

Geez, how did we get on this subject.........?????

There have also been patrol boats, aircraft, trains and a spacecraft named for the Hayabusa..............
