Default Torque Wrench

Ok peoples,

I'm feeling decidedly dumb today and can't seem to think straight. I need some advice.

I NEED a new Torque Wrench!!

After looking at all the manuals etc. it seems I don't need one with huge torques on it, I couldn't find any torque settings above 96ft-lb.

Is this correct for a start and are there any recommendations of make etc?

HELP!!!

Thanks folks.

I have several torque wrenches. My heavy duty one is a 1/2" drive and has a range of 20-150 ft. lbs. My smaller one is a 3/8" drive and has a range of 25-250 in. lbs.

One size doesn't fit all, so you'll probably want to get one for things like axle nuts and another for spark plugs. Mine are Sears Craftsman "micro-clicker" type.

The Draper ones aren't too bad Chippy and yes you'll need a smaller one for most things on the bike.

Thanks wheelnut,

That's why I need a new one, my son didn't do that AND left it lying on the floor. It got wet and rusted beyond all use. Just wish I knew what he was using it for!!

Kids and their lack of knowledge. I suppose I was like that once but can't remember that far back.

You could always use it to 'teach' him how to look after your tools

I would happily best him with it but wouldn't know when to stop!!

I have said if he does it again I get to do the same thing to his bass guitar. If that doesn't sort it out then I'm going to get the dogs to p**s on his computer...
