Tale of woe and another on the to do list
New tires on so decided to go out for a spin and her indoors asked for a ride ace.
First roundabout and center stand goes down, I stop and wing the damping up full. Feels springy but higher next bend center stand down.
Turns out when I look underneath the downpipes and collector have been replaced and the exhaust bodged in and a bracket welded on to stop the center stand knocking on it. The bracket puts the center stand 2 inch to low. I bent it up (HAMMER) its still low.
Thing is it handled Ok before being two up.
Job on the to do is sort out the exhaust
New job is re build or replace the shock (Im sure it will a micture of the two)
Any shock (f v 97) advice??

Hagon have pretty reasonably priced shocks in the UK and you can specify your
load requirements to them - a good idea if you'll be doing a lot of 2 up.
and yeah that is one low hanging center stand - hell I'd take it off for now
then you can do one of two things - get a set of oem style downpipes or
cut the center stand cross bar and weld in a U shaped cross bar to enable the
side legs and side lever to retract further up and not drag

I got a Hagon and it's pretty good.
Shame this has come up now, there have been some virtually new rear shocks on e-bay recently for a bargain price. If you can wait, they do come up every now and then. Otherwise you're looking at £300+ for a new one.
As Sprock advised, I'd just remone the centre stand for the time being and possibly modify it.

Yeah a lot of the shocks are past rebuilding when the damper/piston rod gets etched
with deep rust spots - especially in very wet climates. They take a soaking back there
by the rear wheel - seen some Guys extend the inner fender/"mudguard" down to
try and keep the shock a bit dryer and grime free
