I am new here. I have just bught a nice 87 1000f. like everything except the tail section. was wondering if anyone has upgraded to a new tail with a tail cowl? My girlfriend doesnt like to ride so I will not likely ever have anyone on the back and the targa cover keeps them from asking. lol would like the sleeker look also. thanx in advance.

 

89 to 93 tails are easy enough to switch - fairing shape matches at the mid fairing

and 87 will probably require custom work to the mid fairing

 

the newer tail 93+ will not fit on an 87. Not only does the mid fairing not line up but the seat is also a different shape. You would basically need to switch all the body work.
