Point being having two bikes (90 & 93 ) with vacuum petcocks - you could
say I was inclined to forget to turn the petcock off on the gravity fed 87

So the pingel was installed inline on the fuel line to the carbs.

works same way as a mark 2 or 3 oem vacuum petcock only inline on the fuel
line.

I'd recommend if gravity feeding an 87 88

(Must mention though I have 90 carbs on my 87 so a vac port was avail)

You'd have to run vac line off carb one sync port if using an oem 87 or 88 carb set.

Hope it is as simple as a bad wire or plug though

Hi All. Yes I think I've found the problem . I rechecked the pilot jets and found n0. 1 and 4 blocked. The reason I think is due to me. The previous time I checked them, I put a smear of silicon gasket material over the original rubber gasket on the float bowl to help seal the chamber. So some squished out inside, along the edges when the bowl was clamped down. Over the weeks , I think this reacted with the fuel in the bowl , creating particles that blocked up the pilot jets. On removing the silicon , it didn't feel set , just gungey .

So , yet to test theory as I've now stripped a thread so need to fix with a thread insert. and also track down some float bowl gaskets. Any body know of a good source in the UK ?

Pretty sure thats the problem.
