Default Stock postion of fork in triple trees

Just bought this '87 1000f and the previous owner has raised the fork in the clamps. I imagine he did this to put more weight on the front wheel. I would like to return the fork legs to the factory position because the throttle cables and brake line are rubbing the paint off the fairing in places. The throttle cable is also binding up because of the tight bend it is making.

Here's a pic of the clutch side.

How much of the fork tube should be showing if I were to reposition it back to its original position?

Thanks
Brian

Thanks for the response Sprok. When I think about it, that seemed like such a noob question. I just wanted to make sure.

More than likely, worse questions to follow!

He probably did that to lower his seat height. Was he vertically challenged? Anyhow, that groove at the top of the fork tube is supposed to hold a stopper ring- which, from your pic, looks like it has been moved down on the fork tube to the top of the clamp. Move the ring back to this groove and raise the clamp until it is flush with this ring.
