My research turned up a couple of things. The first four digits is the type of coil and they all seem to common in that respect. They second four digits seems to determine the application.
I used '07 CBR1000 coils with no problem. Others have used GSXR coils without issue. Suzuki used the same coils on all displacements, Honda did not.
My opinion is that the 600 coils MAY pose a height issue in regard to how much they clear the spark plug hole, but I cannot verify that. The 1000 coils clear with room to spare
What I do know, and others will vouch for this, is that the mod will be of benefit and will cure some problems. In my case it was cold start and the low end stumble.
