Default sproket tooth count suggestions

I am about adjust the slack in my chain my next off day and just had a head scratcher moment. My 93 1000F has the standard 17/42 tooth count. If I want to add a little more snap when passing on the freeway what's a good ratio?

I know there is no free lunch and with a sproket change, I will give up some fuel economy and top end. The top end I don't care so much about but I don't want to get stupid with the fuel economy.

Just remember that the speed reading will be higher with a bigger sprocket because the speedo drive comes off the final drive and not the front wheel.

Useful tool here :-

Gearing Commander: Motorcycle Speed, RPM, Chain & Sprockets Calculator

General opinion seems to be not too low at the front 16 is about the minimum.

I agree I had a 15 up from and hated it. Felt very ratchety if that makes sense. I am happy with the 16.
