Default Sporadic engine rattle

Hello All,

Seem there will appear new issue for every season. I have -92 1000F, driven now ~75000km. Now I've met really tricky problem, engine rattles...sometimes. Sound will typically appear after engine is hot, and only when bike is moving. As loudest/most clearly, rattle can be hear when riding 3th-5th gear, letting rpm's come down from high. Engine rattles really noisy between 4000-3000 rpm, and rattle keeps going even clutch has been pushed down if rpm's are maintained between mentioned.
Since engine idles for a while, bike parked, raising prm's doesn't make any rattle, only when bike moves, and even while moving, rattle appears sporadic.
I know that cam chain/tensioner can be replacement condition, but what orther things I can suspect to???
Drive chain and gears changed lately, that's excluded of the check list...and noise really comes from engine.
Whether an experience of a similar???

Default Me too!

Well buddy i can tell you that I am having the EXACT same problem! I can tell you that I replaced my CCT and it did not get rid of the problem... I am kind of lost as to what it can be. I am guessing maybe the actual cam chain might be out of alignment or have lost tension all together? But I am interested to see what folks say. Keep me posted!

New CCT's with New Cam chains are a good marriage. No point in doing one without the other basically.

Kinda like the new sprockets new chain relationship

My first step would be to check to see if the front sprocket is on properly.
The CCT would rattle mostly when cold and go away or get better after ridding.

I'd be curious to see what the guides look like as well.

+1 on front sprocket, others have had same symptoms that turned out to be that and
+1 cam chain probs are usually worse when cold not hot.

Visit in local cbr vizard, he confirmed, it is mostlikely chain/tensioner. Price for change job was so high, that I will do it myself...well so far I have done all fixes myself.
From local dealer cam chain and tensioner for 270€, need to find sprockets yet...or wait they will order those.
I will report since I start the job...and how the result will be. I'm just begining my holiday...problem is werther to postpone all travel plans and return to this afterwards, or listen that annoying rattle for a while.
Anyone know, has there been engine breakdowns because of fault chain/tensioner??
Rattle ain't be yet in phenomenical level

Many members, myself included use 20w50 oil to help quieten the rattle (thin full synthetic makes it louder) and many have put up with the noise for years with no problems (as long as noise quietens after warm and doesn't sound like a bag of nails rattling inside continuously)

Mine did sound like a bag of nails rattling inside continuously. In fact the RAC man, when he came to help me with a leaking water pump, said the cam chain would fail soon. But I took out the tensioner, turned it upside down for a while, made sure it was springy, re-fitted it, and it sounded (and still does) a whole lot better.
