Some ideas please
Ok so I changed my exhaust to a 4 -2-1 undertail on my 94. Great, problem is I melted my battery seeing that the only place I could put it was in it's stock place. SO I'm thinking of possibly modding my airbox to fit the battery under it. Any ideas/concerns/slaps in the face would be great

I'd suggest you line the box with heat resistant material, inside and out.
Underseat looks good, what about the heat transfer through your seat ? You'll have to line that too or risk your seat melting too - not a pleasant thought.
If you move the battery under your airbox it may interfere with your rear suspension travel ??
If you fit a gel battery it can be mounted on it's side.....may help.
Put up some pics when you figure it out.....

Not a good idea unless you want to spend HOURS rejetting - these bikes run at their best with a standard airbox and a freeflow filter. There are guys who have fitted pods but I think they will tell you (if they're honest )the advantage is not worth the effort.
I think I'd do the following
Buy a gel battery and lay it down on it's side - that'll give you a couple of extra inches of clearance -
you'll lose the space for your tools but you could put them in the tail or put them under the battery.
Wrap the pipes under the seat and battery to reduce heat transfer AND cover the battery box on the outside with heat resistant material in the areas closest to the pipes.....finish with a layer of silver heat shield like the stuff under your tank.
FWIW
